Jay-Z’s Impact on Champagne

We often see celebrities and wine on the news. Countless movie stars and musicians eventually find their way to the wine industry, and it’s easy to see why. Making wine is an expensive endeavor, and famous people often have some money to spare. What better investment than the delicious wine? On the other hand, selling wine in such a competitive industry is everything but easy, and a famous endorsement can help.

This is the case with Jay-Z and his extraordinary affair with Champagne. Before we tell you all about it, we invite you to have your own wine adventure by taking a private wine tour with Chauffeurdrive, Melbourne, Yarra Valley. You need not be a superstar to visit the Yarra Valley wine country!

The Ace of Spades

The Ace of Spades is amongst the trendiest Champagnes in the world. Its real name is Armand de Brignac, and its owners and founders were the Cattier family. The winemaking family had been saving reserve wine for years to release an ultra-premium brand, and so they did in 2006. Armand de Brignac Brut Gold was born.

A Rosé and a Blanc de Blancs were released in 2008. Still, the brand didn’t take off until 2014, when American rapper and songwriter Jay-Z bought the brand. Suddenly, everyone wanted a taste of the newly endorsed bubbly wine.

The New Era

Shawn Jay-Z Carter pulled all his strings and orchestrated the largest marketing campaign any Champagne had ever seen, and it worked. The wine critics were skeptical, but then they tasted the Champagne — it was extraordinary, and they knew it!

And so, the legend of the Ace of Spades was born. In 2015, the brand released an exclusive 100% Pinot Noir, and everyone who was anyone had a bottle of Ace of Spades in the fridge.

This year, after almost a decade of great success, Mr Jay-Z sold half his company to LVMH (Louis Vuitton), the corporation behind Moët & Chandon, consolidating Armand de Brignac as one of the most exclusive Champagne brands on the planet.

Have You Tried the Ace of Spades?

Today, a bottle of Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Gold Brut costs AU$425, and the astounding Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Blanc de Noirs goes for over $2,000 Aussie dollars.

Still, there’s good news. You don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy fine wine. (Louis Vuitton) LVMHowns a winery in the Yarra Valley as well, Chandon, and the champagne is a magical journey for all lovers of bubbles! Come visit on your own private winery tour with Chauffeurdrive, Melbourne, Yarra Valley, www.chauffeurdrive.com.autaste for yourself.
